Communications Class

This semester I am taking CO210: Fundamentals of Communications and I just had my first speech presentation today. We had to talk about our most memorable moment and I decided to talk about when I first left for the Dominican Republic. Doing this assignment was very nerve-wracking because I do not like to speak in front of a crowd. But I did not have a choice, I had to do it even though I wish did not have to.
When I got up there, I could not breathe and I was so nervous. It was only a 2-3 minute speech, but to be honest, it felt like it went on forever. I was the fourth person to go and my classmates who went before me made it look pretty easy. I practiced my speech a couple times the night before, but I already knew that what I wanted to say was not going to be said. And I was right, everything I wanted to say was jumbled up in my head.
But I did it, even though it did not go as I wanted it to, I was able to make the 2-minute mark. This class is really important, mostly because I am planning on becoming a teacher and this will help me become a more confident speaker in front of people, and in the future, my class. I am sure that when our next speeches come up, I will gain a little more confidence each time I have to present.
